the Andes with Traditional Asado
Full-Day Horse Trek
Overview
Join us for an unforgettable horseback ride through one of the most scenic areas of the Cordón del Plata Provincial Park. Surrounded by towering peaks and the peace of the Andes, you’ll cross fresh mountain streams and ride along panoramic ridges.
At midday, stop and enjoy a traditional Argentinian barbecue (asado), prepared in the open air and served with local wine, appetizers, and dessert.
This is more than a ride – it is an immersion into Argentina’s rural heritage, where the figure of the gaucho comes alive through his horses, his food, and his hospitality. A relaxed yet enriching activity for nature lovers, couples, and families looking to connect with the authentic spirit of Mendoza.

The Culture of the Gaucho
Argentina, a land of wide horizons and soulful traditions, is known for its excellent wines, folkloric music and tango, and above all, for its legendary beef – inseparably linked to the gaucho.
On this experience, you will encounter the gaucho in his full dimension: his skill with horses, his nobility and kindness, and his pride in living close to the land.
Originally a nomadic horseman of the pampas, the gaucho became a symbol of freedom, resilience, and courage. His role as a mounted fighter in Argentina’s independence wars turned him into a national icon, celebrated in songs, poetry, and festivals.
To this day, gauchos remain master horsemen and passionate guardians of rural traditions. For them, the horse is not only a companion but one of their most precious treasures. Across Argentina, annual festivals still showcase their horsemanship, music, and camaraderie, keeping alive a heritage that you will be able to glimpse and feel during your ride in the Andes.
If you prefer a shorter yet equally memorable adventure, we also offer an Evening Horseback Ride in the same scenic area of Valle de los Morteritos.
As the sun sets behind the towering peaks of the Andes, the mountains are painted in golden and pink hues. Riding at this magical hour creates an intimate connection with nature, perfect for couples or travelers seeking a peaceful experience.
The ride ends with a light picnic of regional products paired with local wine, shared outdoors in a truly unforgettable setting.
