Hiking & Trekking in Mendoza
Mendoza is not only famous for its wines and horseback traditions — it is also one of South America’s most inspiring destinations for mountain adventures. At Horse Trek Andes, we invite you to explore the Cordón del Plata and the Central Andes on foot, with programs ranging from easy day hikes to multi–day high–mountain expeditions.
Whether you are looking for a gentle walk surrounded by Andean landscapes or dreaming of climbing one of Mendoza’s iconic summits, we offer carefully designed experiences led by certified local guides.
Day Hikes – Cordón del Plata & Morteritos
Perfect for nature lovers and families, these soft hikes take you along crystal–clear streams, alpine meadows, and panoramic viewpoints. Options include:
• Vallecitos trails: gentle walks to the base camps of the high peaks, surrounded by condors and silence.
• Morteritos Valley: short hikes with cultural highlights such as ancient indigenous grinding mortars.
Ascent Routes – One–Day Adventures
For hikers looking for a stronger challenge, we offer day ascents that combine mountain spirit and rewarding views:
• Morro del Cerro Negro: a demanding yet accessible climb offering panoramic views over the Cordón del Plata.
• Chorro de la Vieja: a short but adventurous trek leading to a hidden waterfall in the Portillo range.
Multi–Day Expeditions – Classic Peaks of Mendoza
Step into the world of the high Andes with our longer expeditions. These journeys combine physical challenge, cultural connection, and breathtaking landscapes:
• Cerro Plata (5,968 m): the highest summit of the Cordón del Plata, ideal as preparation for Aconcagua.
• Cerro Penitentes (4,351 m): a rewarding ascent overlooking the Aconcagua Valley.
• Other classic peaks: customized expeditions to different summits in the Central Andes.
All our trekking options are led by EPGAMT & WFR certified guides, with safety, local knowledge, and authentic connection to the Andes at the heart of each experience.
